Power Stage Cleanse – Schneider XC

Schneider Conext Core XC – Power Stage Cleanse

LT Energy Services was appointed to carry out a comprehensive preventative maintenance and refurbishment programme on 54 Schneider Conext Core XC central inverters across the 43.6MW Crundale solar site in West Wales. The focus of this project was a full Power Stage Cleanse to extend the lifespan of the inverters and minimise future downtime due to avoidable failures.

Our engineers began by safely isolating each inverter and deconstructing the power stage sections. One of the most common points of failure in this inverter model is the breakdown of thermal paste around the IGBT modules, which leads to overheating and critical power stage damage. Each IGBT was carefully removed, cleaned, and repasted using high-performance thermal compound to restore proper thermal conductivity. The power stages were then fully reassembled, tested, and verified for correct operation.

In addition to the core power stage work, we conducted a complete cleanse of the capacitor banks. This involved cleaning, tightening, and replacing nuts and bolts to ensure electrical integrity and safety compliance. To enhance environmental protection within the inverter enclosures, high-grade filter material was installed on all doors to prevent dust ingress, and silica gel moisture-absorbing packs were fitted to regulate internal humidity.

This detailed maintenance operation was not only vital in reducing the risk of costly power stage replacements but also in improving the overall performance and reliability of the site. By extending the functional lifespan of the equipment and ensuring optimal operating conditions, LT Energy Services provided long-term value for the asset owner and minimised the likelihood of unscheduled outages.

Our proactive approach reflects our commitment to excellence in central inverter maintenance across utility-scale PV sites.
