Project:

AIC Fan Refurbishment

Refurbished 132 AIC fans onsite, improving cooling efficiency and reducing operational costs on critical inverters.

At the 38.1MW Great Wilbraham solar site, LT Energy Services delivered a comprehensive AIC Fan Refurbishment programme across 44 Schneider central inverters. This site had experienced an elevated number of fan failures, which compromised inverter cooling and posed risks to long-term performance. To minimise operational disruptions, our team worked on-site from a mobile service vehicle, allowing for fan refurbishment regardless of weather conditions.

Each of the 3 AIC fans per inverter was removed, assessed, and refurbished. The process included replacing bearings and, where needed, worn shafts. Once rebuilt, the fans were reinstalled and tested, restoring efficient airflow within each power stage area.

By refurbishing instead of replacing, we delivered substantial cost savings, reducing fan-related O&M costs from approximately £3,500 per new unit to around £1,000 per inverter. The client benefited from improved equipment
